The Whittle Shortline Railroad

Both my son and husband love trains! When I found out that I could review a train, I knew that I needed to jump on that opportunity! My husband and I set down and looked though the options of trains that I had and we decided on the Santa Fe.

Let me tell you a little about the company! Whittle Shortline Railroad was started in a garage 20 years ago in Kirkwood, MO (it’s a suburb of St. Louis). The company was actually started by MISTAKE (a good mistake)! It all happened when a father of found and one of his sons were supposed to build crown molding for his wife to put in the dining room. Instead….he built trains. 20 years later and she still does not have her crown molding. The whole family has helped out in some way throughout the years. The trains started out as models of US trains, but now….they have began making international trains.

All of the trains made by Whittle Shortline Trains are made by hand using child-safe paints and finishes. Their goal is to make make each train to be as realistic as possible, but also staying as toy-trains. They trains are compatible with Thomas, Brio and Chuggington!

When our trains arrived…I was surprised that they were not boxed in some kind of fancy box. They were in a cardboard box and each train is wrapped individually and put in it’s own location in the box.

The trains are very well….very solid and well….you can tell that they were made by a great company. The paint job is amazing and they are so shiny.

The wheels on these trains allow them to move with ease and they each have a magnetic front for you to attach them all together for hours of fun!
